10-second CPS test

Please click inside the box as fast as you can. The timer starts with your first click and stops after ten seconds; the result shows your total clicks and clicks per second (CPS). A ten-second test reflects your sustained clicking speed better than a shorter test.

Method and sources of error

  1. The timer starts with your first click (or the space bar or Enter key) and stops at the time limit. Each press before the limit counts as one click; presses after it do not count.
  2. Clicks per second (CPS) = clicks ÷ seconds, to one decimal place.
  3. The moment of each press is taken from the input event's time stamp, which uses the same clock as performance.now(), to a fraction of a millisecond. Repeated key signals from holding a key down do not count.
  4. After the time is up, a new test cannot start for 0.8 seconds, so that an extra click does not start a new test by mistake.
  5. Sources of error: the polling rate of the mouse, the sampling rate of a touch screen and the delay of wireless devices can make some clicks arrive from a few to several tens of milliseconds late; a click that arrives after the limit is not counted. This matters most in a 1-second test. Auto-click features and macro keys on some mice distort the count.
  6. Fast clicking for a long time can tire the fingers and wrist. Please take regular breaks.
